Event Date
Incorporation of Air Quality Consideration in Local Transportation Planning
Event Overview
This presentation will focus on the local transportation planning activities such as planning for bicycle facilities and designation of truck routes that may not necessarily take air quality impact into consideration. However, the outcome of these planning activities can have significant impact on the level of near-roadway exposure to air pollution from vehicular traffic by the various road users as well as the local population. This presentation will discuss the importance of explicitly considering the air quality impact in the planning process with examples from the planning of new bicycle facilities in Riverside, California.
