For more than a decade, the National Center for Sustainable Transportation (NCST) has delivered practical, results-driven research that supports agencies across the nation in maintaining and improving the performance of America’s transportation system. The NCST operates under a broad definition of sustainability: that we should meet the needs of the current generation without compromising future generations by balancing economic vitality, enhancing social well-being, and protecting natural resources. A sustainable transportation system is one that ensures safe, affordable, and efficient mobility for all users of the system.
The NCST’s multi-university consortium has a long history of contributing to national mobility, engineering innovation, and the development of a strong transportation workforce. The Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis (ITS-Davis) leads the NCST in partnership with California State University, Long Beach; Georgia Institute of Technology; Texas Southern University; the University of California, Riverside; the University of Southern California; and the University of Vermont.
