Events Overview

Ride hailing services such as Uber and Lyft are quickly changing transportation with growing impacts on travel demand, vehicle miles traveled, and the use of other modes. Dr. Circella presented results from a study of emerging transportation technologies and trends being developed at UC Davis in cooperation with Caltrans and the National Center for Sustainable Transportation. In the study, they investigate the factors affecting the adoption and frequency of use of emerging transportation services, including shared mobility services such as car-sharing and ride-hailing (Uber/Lyft), and discuss the impacts the the use of Uber/Lyft has on the use of other travel modes, including public transportation and driving alone, among different sociodemographic groups and geographic regions.
