Do Fuel Taxes Face Ideological or Economic Opposition? Evidence from Voting on Proposition 6 and Lessons for Policymaking

  • Principal Investigator Erich Muehlegger, Ph.D.
  • University of California, Davis
This project seeks to unpack the political opposition to gasoline taxes, by examining how precinct-level support for California Proposition 6, which would have immediately reduced state gasoline taxes, covaries with the political ideology of voters and the economic burden of gasoline taxes.

Electric Fleet Adoption Strategies – Addressing Storage and Infrastructure Needs

Research Product Type
Research Report
This project evaluated the mid to long-term energy storage needs of the electric grid for select fleet electrification scenarios. The results show that Electrical Energy Storage (EES) capacity requirements depend on a number of parameters, including Demand Response (DR), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging flexibility, and total EV population.

Electric Truck Fleet Management Under Limited and Uncertain Charging Infrastructure Availability

  • Principal Investigator Petros Ioannou, Ph.D.
  • University of Southern California
This project will address the issues of freight decarbonization and supply chain resiliency by designing electric truck fleet management strategies that consider limited charging availability for electric vehicles, respond to electricity grid uncertainties, and analyze the constraints of long-haul and short-haul operations with electric trucks.

Electric Truck Fleet Management under Limited and Uncertain Charging Infrastructure Availability

Research Product Type
Research Report
This study develops a comprehensive optimization framework for electric truck fleet management, addressing the interplay between infrastructure limitations, operational uncertainties, and energy cost fluctuations. This research will also provide scalable insights for policymakers and industry leaders, supporting the broader transition to sustainable freight transportation.

Electric Vehicle Assessment and Leveraging of Unified models toward AbatemenT of Emissions (EVALUATE): Phase II

  • Principal Investigator Richard Simmons, Ph.D.
  • Georgia Institute of Technology
This research will expand on EVALUATE, Phase I by testing the tools developed in that project in an urban area, developing guidance to assist others in using these tools in other regions, and performing technology transfer activities to get the tools in the hands of practitioners and decision makers.
