Research will explore how transportation network companies should be regulated so as to efficiently balance the reduction in cost from increased industry concentration against the increased exercise of monopoly power.

In this research, investigators will study and develop mechanisms for offering incentives to organizations and companies to change the behavior of individual drivers in their organization.

This project will explore possible improvements to the UC Davis Induced Travel Calculator and develop recommendations for any further improvements that would require additional resources. 

This project will develop a web-based tool for calculating the induced travel effects of highway expansion projects

This study estimates reliability and identifies critical paths in California's highway transportation network.

This project will address the lack of systematic research on the topic by (1) identifying common TOD and transit/AT financing tools-in-use, (2) conducting a survey and interviews with local planners, (3) analyzing findings in connection to characteristics and motivations distinguishing localities, and (4) assessing financing and planning strategies more intensively in case study cities useful for considering best practices.

California lacks a formal state system for informing local governments on best pavement practices. This white paper examines pavement programs in other states in the hope that California can learn from existing models.

This project will complete a minimum of three case studies of local communities that have experienced substantial changes in the transportation system and/or land development patterns to assess the change in VMT that has resulted; the forces contributing to transportation and land use changes, including local and/or regional policy changes, will also be examined.

This project will assess the current state-of-the-practice with respect to vehicle-miles-traveled estimation and mitigation by examining a sample of environmental documents for recent development projects.

This white paper focuses on the relationship between land use policies and driving patterns. It recommends strategies for enhancing local land use performance in reducing vehicle trips and increasing non-auto use.
