Measuring Land Use Performance from a Transportation Perspective: Policy, Plan, and Outcome

Event Date

Location
Caltrans Headquarters, Basement Boardroom 1120 N Street, Sacramento, CA

Speaker

Gian-Claudia Scara – Researcher, National Center for Sustainable Transportation, University of California, Davis

Event Overview

This presentation explored the current knowledge and knowledge gaps about linkages between upstream land use policy and downstream land use impacts. Understanding these connections is important for gauging how California’s SB 375 and policies like it might perform. Focusing specifically on land use and transportation relationships, the presentation synthesized research on the potential for shaping local land use to reduce vehicle miles traveled (and hence, greenhouse gas emissions).
