July 18, 2016
1605 Tillia St., Room 1103
Institute of Transportation Studies, University of California, Davis, Davis, CA
Dr. Francesco Ciari – Research Associate, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich
Dr. Ciari will give a presentation on his research modeling carsharing with an agent based model of transportation demand and supply called MATSim. The tool has been developed over several years in order to simulate any kind of carsharing (round-trip based, one way and free-floating). The talk will address first the necessity of such a tool in order to perform policy studies and transport planning assessments in the domain of shared mobility. It will then provide more details on the methodology, and discuss more in depth some applications of the tool. Finally, current limitations and planned improvements will be addressed.
