Event Date

1605 Tillia St., Room 1103, ITS-Davis, Davis, CA

Dr. Francesco Ciari – Research Associate, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich

Event Overview

Dr. Ciari gave a presentation on his research modeling carsharing with an agent based model of transportation demand and supply called MATSim. The tool has been developed over several years in order to simulate any kind of carsharing (round-trip based, one way and free-floating). The talk first addressed the necessity of such a tool in order to perform policy studies and transport planning assessments in the domain of shared mobility. It then provided more details on the methodology, and discussed more in depth some applications of the tool. Finally, current limitations and planned improvements were addressed.
