Event Overview

Research has shown eco-driving can save fuel while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions but most of the research to date has focused on passenger vehicles. So what are the benefits of eco-driving for heavy-duty truck? Kanok Boriboonsomsin from the University of California, Riverside shared the state-of-the-knowledge on eco-driving practices and programs applied to heavy-duty trucks; the effectiveness of tested or implemented programs; and key challenges and barriers in implementing and sustaining a successful truck eco-driving program. Policy implications and additional research needs were also discussed.
