Event Overview

This webinar featured presentations by Lew Fulton and Marshall Miller from the Institute of Transportation Studies at University of California, Davis. Our speakers provided an overview of findings from the white paper from Sustainable Transportation Energy Pathways Program (STEPS) and the National Center for Sustainable Transportation (NCST) that examines the feasibility of achieving an 80-in-50 target from freight transport systems, with a focus on U.S. trucking. Several scenarios for achieving this target for trucks will be presented along with a discussion of technical, economic, and other challenges in achieving deep penetrations of low carbon vehicles and fuels, including zero-emission vehicles (ZEV – i.e. battery electric or hydrogen/fuel cell) and vehicles running on biofuels. Policy implications and areas where additional research is needed were also discussed.
