California's first conference on the design and construction of sustainable long-life concrete pavement featured industry professionals, researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. In this event, attendees learned about innovations in and best practices for durable and sustainable concrete pavements.
The first day's events took place at UC Davis' Activities and Recreation Center Ballroom from 7 am to 6 pm. Panel discussions and sessions featured a wide range of topics from MIT research in Pavement Network Asset Management to reducing embodied carbon in concrete pavement to vehicle scheduling and routing. This day also included the 2024 Southwest Concrete Pavement Association (SWCPA) Concrete Paving Award ceremony.
The second day's events took place at the University of California Pavement Research Center, beginning with a showcase of the Sustainable Concrete Lab2Slab Initiative led by UC Davis' Dr. John Harvey and Dr. Somayeh Nassiri. Guided tours took place throughout the day. There was also a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Mobile Concrete Technology Center Open House.
