This project will investigate and evaluate the activity patterns and energy use of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and equipment that directly work in goods movement or work in the logistics related to the goods movement area. The electrification of the goods movement sector is one possible solution to the reduction of use of fossil fuels, greenhouse gases, and pollutant emissions. Over the course of the data logging period, a broad range of electric vehicles and equipment across several port locations throughout California will be characterized. This information will allow the effectiveness of the BEVs to be evaluated for different applications.
