Dr. Butt is a project scientist and project manager at the University of California Pavement Research Center, Davis/Berkeley. Dr. Butt’s research focuses primarily on sustainable transport infrastructures. He is working on several state and federal funded projects; some research topics include life cycle assessment (environmental and social), urban metabolism, complete streets, pavement-vehicle interaction, etc. Dr. Butt serves as an advisory board member of the Pavement Life Cycle Management project funded by the Conference of European Road Directors. He also serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals. Research and teaching are his passion!
Dr. Butt acquired BE degree in Civil Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (Pakistan) and, MSc, Licentiate of Engineering and PhD from KTH-Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden).
